Mayhem Roster Management – 12/22/2023

It has been six days since the Mayhem were on the ice against the Fayetteville Marksmen last Saturday. However, Head Coach Nick Niedert and his staff have been busy this week with roster management.

The fun started when goalkeeper Jimmy Poreda continued his road warrior month, which AAA would be proud of. Just back from a stint in Atlanta, Poreda was back in uniform on Saturday night against the Fayetteville Marksmen but did not play.

He headed north on Tuesday when he was loaned to the Norfolk Admirals of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). The Admirals lost to the Reading Royals last night, and while Poreda dressed, he did not play.

The Mayhem signed 27-year-old Sean Kuhn from Glen Falls, New York, to fill the void between the pipes. Kuhn has spent time with the Evansville Thunderbolts from the SPHL and the Mississippi Sea Wolves in the FPHL before setting up shop at the Macon Coliseum.

Kuhn was in goal on November 4, 2023, in Evansville when the Mayhem defeated the Thunderbolts 4-3 in overtime. Adam Eby beat Kuhn for the winning goal in the extra period.

In addition to the goalie switch, two position players were also on the move. Defensemen Eby was loaned to the Savannah Ghost Pirates in the ECHL, who will be in action Friday, December 22, against the Florida Everblades.

Center Alex Cohen was loaned to the Gladiators and played in their 5-3 win over the Greenville Swamp Rats on Wednesday night.  He was returned to Macon after the Gladiators game.

The Mayhem are back on the ice Friday night when they host the Pensacola Ice Flyers amid rumors that Santa Claus will be appearing in advance of his big night. Puck Drops at 7 pm.
